Postpartum depression (PPD) is one of the new things that you can face after giving birth. It can range from the mild(er) "baby blues" which affect between 50 and 80 percent of all mothers, to psychosis. In general, over 10 percent of mothers experience some level of postpartum adjustment problems. Here are some tips how to overcome this problem and become the mother you always want to be:

  1. Omega 3 – this is fish oil often sold in capsules, which contains oil equal to 30 cans of tone fish. Try to include in your daily menu more of spawn, salmon, mackerel, anchovy. Walnuts and the linseed also have high percentage of this oil.
  2. Bright light therapy - going for a walk early in the morning minimum for an half and hour is going to improve your condition; there are also special devices, designed to give you all the necessary and proper light. (see below)
  3. the St. John’s Wort – talk with your doctor for the right proportion.
  4. Physical activity
  5. Time for you – going out just for a while – may be the thing you need.
  6. Breastfeeding and the contact with your baby may be helpful too.
  7. Shopping – for you and your baby, the online shopping gives you the way to combine the motherhood and the shopping therapy. And buying your little one the first toy is now as exciting as buying a pair of designer shoes for you before.
